6+ Funny Movies to Watch When High
We did scary movies.
Now we’re ready to laugh our buds off!
Smoking weed and watching funny movies go together like chicken and waffles. As Doctor’s Orders team members, we fancy ourselves experts in the field of knowing which movies to watch when high. We felt inspired to create this side-splitting list just for you.
So roll up, light up, and check out these 6 hilarious movies to watch when high!
1. The Big Lebowski
I wish I could watch this movie for the first time again.
This stoner cult classic follows Jeff Lebowski, aka The Dude, who’s mistaken for a Jeffrey Lebowski when the people who broke into his place pee on his precious rug.
When The Dude tracks down the real Jeffrey Lebowski, he ends up getting tasked with finding Jeffrey Lebowski’s kidnapped wife.
Light up a joint and enjoy a hilarious movie experience full of intrigue, bowling, and White Russians.
2. Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny
“Patience, young grass smoker. Patience.”
If you love Jack Black, great music, and a hilarious plot, this is going to be one of your new favorite movies to watch when high.
Tenacious D is an actual legitimate rock band formed by Jack Black and Kyle Gass where the name was derived by “tenacious defense”.
But in the movie, the name of their band comes to them after discovering their matching birthmarks on their asses.
The ridiculous and amazing movie follows the journey of Jack Black and Kyle Gass as they pursue the pick of destiny; a magical yet elusive guitar pick found historically in the hands of their rock idols.
3. Step Brothers
“I smoked pot with Johnny Hopkins.”
This instant classic features two great comedy actors of our generation: Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
There are more quotable lines and memorable scenes in this movie than most comedies, which makes this one of the best movies to watch when high.
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are both adults living with their respective single mom and single dad. When their parents get married and move in together, the two have to learn to coexist and just maybe become best friends.
As long as no one touches anyone’s drum set.
You’ll never look at Ben Stiller the same way again. And you’ll love it.
Ben Stiller and his rival (played by Owen Wilson) both play two airheaded male models competing to win the title of Male Model of the Year.
When Stiller loses to Wilson, he becomes crushed and is vulnerable to the real villain Mugatu (Will Ferrell) and his secret plan to brainwash Stiller and attempt to get the male model to assassinate Malaysia’s prime minister.
This is one of those movies that never gets old, especially while your high. Enjoy!
This movie is a little too real. But in the best possible way.
The main character is a man of average intelligence with an average life who signs up to be a part of a secret experiment where he is frozen for year, but the experiment is forgotten, and he ends up waking up from his frozen hibernation five centuries later to a country that is so dumbed down that he becomes the smartest person alive.
For anyone who is fed up with certain political figures and wants to feel validated by watching a movie that’s a little too close to reality, Idiocracy frames a scarily close reality in a hilarious package. Get ready to laugh (and maybe cry on the inside).
6. Smiley Face
This movie is near and dear to my heart because I believe it was the first one to really pioneer female stoner comedies.
The main character, Jane, eats a bunch of her roommate’s cupcakes – not knowing that they were infused with a bunch of weed – and then has to go about her day, complete tasks, and set out on her misadventure that includes acting auditions, dentist waiting rooms, and Venice Beach.
Enjoy an edible cupcake, sit back, and get ready to laugh your bud off to this ridiculously funny stoner cult classic starring Anna Faris.
